Leah was born and raised in New Richmond, WI where she grew up playing hockey, volleyball, and softball. Her love for adaptive fitness came from seeing her grandpa workout at the wellness center where he would row and lift weights from his wheelchair!
She’s most proud of seeing our community come together in times of need and be inclusive to every person no matter what! Leah loves hiking, kayaking, wake surfing, snowboarding, traveling, meeting people, and most of all seeing her family especially her little nieces and nephews and all of her cousins kiddos!

I have been coaching CrossFit and competing in CrossFit for almost 8 years. I’ve learned a lot from my own experience, helping others prepare for competitions, and from the coaches I’ve hired to help me. Certifications and continuing education are important to me but nothing matters as much as experience and real world application. The best coaches I’ve worked with are the coaches who pay attention and care, nothing out of a textbook or from a seminar can make up for those two things. I have been a fan of sports my whole life. Some sports more than others but no matter what the sport was, I could always appreciate what the competitors had to do to prepare themselves to compete. No matter if the sport was Professional Football or some obscure Olympic Sport, the level of discipline, practice, and the commitment high level athletes have I’ve always admired.
When I was in High School and College I was on the Football team. I loved the competition and being part of a team. And I was always committed to preparing myself the best I could to be a productive part of the team. I learned a lot but was never really satisfied that I had done enough. I think this mindset of always wanting to do more was what fueled my pursuit of knowledge about health, performance, and fitness. After graduating college I trained for about five years at a couple different gym chains. It was really good experience and I learned a lot about the training people at different levels. My ideas on how and why people should train and be trained continued to evolve as I started training people out of my garage. In the fall of 2012, one of my clients asked me “who do I want to train?” My answer was “People who are motivated, want to work hard, and improve more than just “how they look.” Kind of like CrossFit.” She asked me “Why aren’t you CrossFit certified?” A few months later I was.
I’ve always thought everyone should train like an athlete. This is what CrossFit is all about. Life can throw anything at you, being prepared to meet any and all these obstacles is what true fitness is all about. Sports can require you to have Specific Physical Preparedness, but Life requires you to have General Physical Preparedness. CrossFit gives you a way to measure your fitness, against yourself and against an entire community. The fittest people are not only lean, they are strong… They are not only capable of moving barbells, they are capable of moving their bodies and to do it well for any length of time. Truly fit people not only perform well but they are also healthy. The program is not just a bunch of workouts, it’s being part of a team that consistently gets better, learns from each other, and pushes each other to achieve more than they thought possible when they begin.
